BRADENTON, FL -- A 56-year-old Sarasota man was killed Saturday night when his car crashed into a concrete utility pole, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Alcohol is not suspected the the crash that killed M.T. Jennings but troopers did not know what caused him to lose control of his 2002 Buick LeSabre

FHP said the crash occurred around 10:24 p.m. at U.S. 41 and Palm Lane South.

Jennings was traveling south in the center lane of U.S. 41 when "for unknown reasons" he lost control and drove off the roadway to the right, FHP said.

The LeSabre rotated clockwise before colliding with the utility pole on
the outside shoulder of the road.

FHP said troopers did not find skid marks at the crash scene.
