Shootout With Deputies Leads To Bradenton Man’s Arrest
A Monday morning shootout with Manatee County deputies resulted in a Bradenton man's arrest.

BRADENTON, FL — A 34-year-old Bradenton man faces criminal charges after Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies say he opened fire on them early Monday morning from a home in the 3600 block of 29th Street East.
According to the agency, deputies were originally dispatched into the neighborhood just before 4 a.m. Feb. 6 after receiving a call about a random shooting. As they were on the way, a second call came in. During that call, a man made threatening statements, an email from the agency said.
After arriving at the home, deputies tried to make contact with the second caller, identified as Mark Davis. Those attempts took place by phone and were unsuccessful, the email said.

“Approximately 10 minutes later, Davis began to fire at deputies from a window on the south side of the residence,” the email said. “Deputies took cover and returned fire.”
A standoff that lasted about an hour occurred after the initial volley of shots, deputies say. At that point, Davis came out of the home “carrying a pistol and what appeared to be a rifle.”
