Skyway Bridge High Wind Advisory Issued

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol has issued a high wind advisory for the Skyway Bridge. While the bridge remained open Saturday morning, the patrol was warning motorists to exercise caution when crossing.

“Wind gusts of 25-35 (mph) have been reported throughout the morning,” an email from Sgt. Steve Gaskins said. “Troopers will continue to monitor the span for motorists’ safety.”

Drivers of high-profile vehicles are being asked to take extra care due to the wind gusts.

Motorists who want to make certain gusts haven’t closed the bridge before they try to cross are asked to monitor the FHP’s live crash and roadway report online for any updates.
