Stink Over Horse Manure Prompts New Signs

Bradenton leaders want horseback riders not to leave a mess behind.

Whoa, there. Not so fast.

Horseback riders are being told by the Bradenton City Council to do a better job at cleaning up what their steeds leave behind, according to the Bradenton Herald.

Bradenton's public works director is seeking permission from the state of Florida to post signs along the Palma Sola Causeway to tell horseback riders to pick up horse manure and not leave it behind.

"Leave Only Hoof Prints" is the reminder on the new sign. Public Works Director Claude Tankersley received permission from the Council this week to get the required permit from the state Transportation Department.

Horse manure has become a problem on sidewalks, the roadway and beach, council members were told.
