Sunshine Skyway Bridge Reopens After Hurricane Ian: FHP
The Sunshine Skyway Bridge, which closed because of Hurricane Ian's high winds, reopened Thursday afternoon, FL Highway Patrol said.

FLORIDA — After closing in both directions Wednesday morning because of high winds caused by Hurricane Ian, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge reopened early Thursday afternoon, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The four-lane cable-stayed concrete bridge with northbound and southbound lanes is part of I-275 and U.S. Highway 19. It connects Pinellas and Manatee counties.
The bridge closes when there are maximum sustained winds of 40 mph or higher. Wind speeds dropped to 30 mph Thursday afternoon, FHP said.

Drivers using the bridge are asked to be careful while traveling, still.
“Motorists may cross the span but are asked to use caution due to debris along the highway shoulders,” the agency said.
