Thank the Troops for their Service During the Holidays

The USO offers communities a chance to send thanks to the troops deployed during the holidays.

USO is helping families send and read thank you messages to troops abroad and exploring those messages in your neighborhood.

The USO's Thanks from Everywhere  Web page has a form to write a thank you message, military affiliation and enter your ZIP code. The site also encourages active duty military to send messages, too.

Here's a sample of thank yous from Bradenton:

We would like to thank everyone in the military now who are serving us overseas, and to all the veterans that have served, we want you to stay safe, and come home soon. — Bob and Ceil

My favorite Americans are servicemembers and their families. All understand how very precious the freedoms we Americans enjoy are. All sacrifice in some way each day to ensure that those freedoms remain for every American. I am inordinately proud to be a military child...my dad served in BOTH world wars...a 45 year Army wife and a (ten year and counting) Army mom. I wish each of you and your families a SAFE, peaceful and happy holiday this Thanksgiving. You are the real heroes of our country. — Margaret

You guys Rock!! Our family is making a commitment to help all Veterans as a tribute to the awesome job that you have done for us. We all love you and want the very best for you and your families. Happy Thanksgiving 2011- we pray for a peaceful Thanksgiving 2012. Keep the faith. — Gaye
