Thousands Of Warnings Issued To School Zone Drivers: Manatee Sheriff

3,500 drivers were issued warnings for traveling more than 10 mph in school zones in two weeks, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — More than 3,500 warnings have been issued to drivers traveling faster than 10 miles per hour in school zones with speed zone cameras in the two weeks since the school year started two weeks ago, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

The period for warnings ends Sept. 11. After that, violations will come with a $100 fine.

Drivers receive violations when they drop more than 10 mph over the posted speed limit during school zone flashing times or any time during the school day, the sheriff’s office said.
