Two Gas Leaks Occur Within Minutes in Bradenton

Both leaks, which occurred at different locations in Bradenton on Monday afternoon, were secured in a few hours, fire officials said.

Firefighters were called out to the scenes of two separate natural gas leaks that occurred within minutes of each other Monday in Bradenton.

The first leak happened at 1:37 p.m. in the 1600 block of 57th Avenue West, where a six-inch natural gas line was damaged during a construction project, officials from Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue said.

The leak was secured by crews at the scene in about four hours. Firefighters from Cedar Hammock, Southern Manatee Fire Rescue and West Manatee Fire Rescue were called to the scene, along with other emergency personnel.

The second leak happened at 1:44 p.m., when a one-inch natural gas line was torn by an auger at 3101 3rd St. W., according to Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Gene Brown.

Firefighters from Cedar Hammock and Southern Manatee Fire Rescue responded. A crew working at the scene and had the leak secured within two hours, Brown said.

There was no report of injuries.
