Sarasota Woman's Body Found in a Ditch

The Sheriff's Department is invesitgating a suspicious death, after a motorcyclist discovered the body of a Sarasota woman in a ditch along University Parkway this morning.

The woman has been identified as Nicole Rose Scott, 29, of Sarasota, according to a report from the Sheriff's Department. Deputies are treating Scott's death as a homicide.

Detectives believe the victim died sometime in the last two days.  An autopsy will be performed Monday to determine the cause of death.

The motorcyclist called 9-1-1 at about 11 a.m. today. He was riding his motorcycle in the area when he spotted the body in a ditch on the north side of University Parkway in Southeast Manatee County.
