11-Year-Old Threatened School Shooting: Pinellas County Sheriff

In a text to other students, the child threatened a shooting at Clearwater's Lakeside Christian School, the Pinellas County sheriff said.

CLEARWATER, FL — An 11-year-old student was arrested Tuesday after threatening a school shooting, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The child was threatened with making written threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting.

Though the sheriff’s office named the student, it’s Patch policy not to name suspects who are minors unless they are charged as adults. It’s not known whether they were charged as a juvenile or an adult.

Detectives responded to Lakeside Christian School in Clearwater on Wednesday after reports of the 11-year-old sending a threatening text message to a group of students.

In the Aug. 15 text message, the student wrote, “ONG I MIGHT SHOOT UP DA SCHOOL, JS WATCH, NOVEMBER 4.”
