2011 Floodplain Management Plan Progress Report Released

With all the rainy day whether lately it's good to remember the city recently released its 2011 Floodplain Management Plan implementation progress report.

The plan helps identify areas that are prone to flooding. It also helps residents in these wet pockets obtain discounts on flood insurance.

The plan serves as a five-year outlook of what residents can expect when it comes to stormwater, flooding, and their homes.

Some changes and progress since last update in 2004 include:

  • The city continues to participate in the FEMA Project Impact Program to help reduce the impacts of natural disasters.
  • Clearwater added several new online features to help residents, property owners, property professionals, and others to identify the flood zone for a particular property and request elevation certificates this year.
