Arrest Made in Clearwater Homicide
A 26-year-old Clearwater man faces first-degree murder charges following a woman's shooting death last week.

CLEARWATER, FL — The Clearwater Police Department has announced the arrest of a man in connection with the Dec. 9 shooting death of a woman.
According to police, Jeremiah James Rodriguez, 26, was arrested late Sunday night on first-degree murder charges. Police say Rodriguez is responsible for the shooting death of Saniye Salahutdin, 22, in the early morning hours Friday.
Salahutdin’s body was discovered in her apartment in the 2200 block of Nursery Road after police received a call about shots fired in the area around 3:30 a.m. Friday. When they arrived at the Oakbrook Apartments, they found her dead inside the apartment.

Rodriguez was being held in the Pinellas County Jail Monday without bond. Police did not say how detectives connected him to Salahutdin’s death.
