Boy, 10, Suffers Serious Burns In Clearwater House Fire
The fire broke out around 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to Clearwater authorities.
CLEARWATER, FL — A 10-year-old boy was injured on Wednesday night in a fire at a Clearwater residence, according to authorities.
Clearwater Fire & Rescue and police responded to 1169 Russell St. just after 8 p.m. this evening after receiving a call about a child who suffered serious burns inside a home at that location.
An investigation revealed the boy started a fire inside a bedroom by piling clothes on a hot plate, authorities said. The fire was contained to the bedroom and did not reach other parts of the house.

The child suffered second-degree burns and was flown by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
The Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.
