Charges Could Come to Teens Accused of Stealing Gun

A teenage boy and girl could be charged with three felonies related to a stolen gun used in the accidental shooting of a Clearwater teenager Aug. 2.

A gun used in the accidental shooting of a Clearwater teen was stolen during a vehicle burglary days before the incident, according to Clearwater Police.

A teenage boy and girl are thought to have also burglarized two other vehicles as well, and now all three of those felony cases are being referred to the State Attorney's Office for possible prosecution, according to Clearwater Police.

Additional charges could come as a result of the investigation, police said. If an arrest warrant is issued, the teens' names will be released, according to authorities.

Detectives determined that the male and female teens brought the stolen Smith & Wesson 9mm to a residence on Browning Street where .

He was taken by Bayflite to Bayfront Medical Center. Greelee still is in critical condition.

Adults, who were home at the time, did not know the teens were playing with the gun, according to police.

Charges associated with the shooting still are pending, according to police.
