Sobriety Checkpoint Nets 14 DUI Arrests

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies and Clearwater Police issued 35 citations, impounded 17 cars and arrested 14 drivers for DUI, during a checkpoint Friday night at . 

Officers diverted 489 vehicles through the checkpoint from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. in the parking lot at the school which is along busy Gulf to Bay Boulevard. There were 1,334 that passed by, according to officials.

Checkpoint results:

• 31 arrests
• 17 vehicles impounded
• 35 citations issued
• 45 total charges
• 14 driving under the influence (1 felony)
• 2 possession of alcohol under 21
• 1 no valid driver license
• 6 driving while license is suspended or revoked with knowledge (1 felony)
• 4 no valid driver license
• 2 expired driver license more than 6 months
• 3 misdemeanor warrants
• 2 possession of controlled substance
• 5 possession of marijuana
• 1 possession of drug paraphernalia
• 2 refusal to submit to chemical testing
• 2 felony violation of probation
• 1 carry concealed firearm
• 1 Marchman Act
