Volunteers removed trash and picked up parks throughout Clearwater in September.

Here are some of the groups that volunteered and their projects to help clean up around the city:

  • The Courtney Campbell Causeway Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 15 was well attended. More than 150 participants volunteered more than 450 hours of their time to help tidy up Clearwater. Volunteers from various groups, businesses and organizations participated in the project including, Coca-Cola employees, National Honor Society members from Palm Harbor University High School, Countryside High School marine biology students, Adopt a Park group Families for a Better Community, students from Clearwater Christian College, and the Stranding Team from the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
  • Sisters of Melchizedek #8, participated in its first cleanup project Sept. 15 at Del Oro Park, which it recently adopted.
  • Adopt a Park partner DOGTEK cleaned up the palm plants in Forest Run Park located in Countryside Sept. 21.

Businesses, neighborhood associations, troops, school groups, and service organizations with at least six members can become an Adopt a Park partner.

Groups are required to complete two service projects in their park or other city park throughout the contract year. In exchange for their hard work, groups are recognized with a sign bearing their name in the adopted park.
