Clearwater police have charged Aurelian Frumosu with second-degree murder and armed burglary in the stabbing death of Scott Christy.

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater police have charged Aurelian Frumosu, 41, with second-degree murder and armed burglary in the stabbing death of Scott Christy, 61, who lived at 1240 Pineview Ave.
According to police, the Christy family rented the house that was owned by Frumosu's mother, who died last year. The property has been in probate and there is civil litigation between the Christy family and the children of the owner.
On Thursday at 7:20 p.m., Frumosu entered the back yard of the home and began damaging an exterior air conditioning unit, kicking it and banging on it with a brick, police said. When Christy went outside to investigate the noise, Frumosu went inside the house through an open door. During an ensuing struggle inside the house, Christy was stabbed. He died at Morton Plant Hospital, according to police.
