Clearwater Offers Sandbags at Public Works Complex

In light of Tropical Storm Hermine, the city is offering residents sandbags.

In response to Tropical Storm Hermine, the City of Clearwater has the following updates:

  • City offices are open and all recreation centers and libraries will be open. At this time, the City Council meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 1 is still going to be occurring.
  • Clearwater Solid Waste/Recycling will be open tomorrow, Sept. 1, and business will be as usual. Clearwater collection schedules will not change due to current weather conditions.
  • Residents in need of sand bags can obtain the sand for free at the city of Clearwater's Public Works Complex located at 1650 N. Arcturas Ave., offHercules Avenue and Sherwood Street. Residents should bring their own bags and a shovel, as the city has a very limited number of bags available. Bags can be purchased at most home improvement stores. Self-serve sand is located outside the fence on Arcturas Avenue so residents can fill their own bags 24 hours a day. Sand will be available while supplies last.
