Clearwater PD Seek Tips In 20-Year-Old Cold Case Homicide

CLEARWATER, FL — Twenty years after he was fatally shot, the family of Clarence Bolden and Clearwater police continue to hope someone will come forward with information that will lead to a break in the case.

"It's been 20 years, but there's not a day that goes by where we don't think of Clarence," Bolden's, sister Connie Bolden told FOX 13. "He was our heart. Clarence was just a good person."

Her brother was shot and killed while attending a poker game in a shed on Fulton Street on Feb. 7, 2002. According to Clearwater police, two masked men interrupted the game in an apparent robbery.

Police said both men had their faces concealed with possible shirts and were armed with handguns. They demanded that the group give up their money.

Bolden, who was 37 years old at the time, was shot when he balked at handing over the money. He died at the scene, police said.

Police said the suspects then fled the location with an unknown amount of cash.

"You’re not going to get away with it. It was my husband, my daughter’s father. I’m standing strong, and I’m going to fight for justice, 20 years and I want you,” Andrea Bolden told WFLA-TV.

"His homicide remains unsolved to this day, but our cold case detectives are determined to find his killer or killers," the Clearwater Police Department said on its Facebook page on Monday.
