Clearwater Traffic: Outback Bowl Beach Day May Create Snarls
Outback Bowl Beach Day events could cause delays for motorists in Clearwater.

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater Beach is the place to be Friday. With Outback Bowl Beach Day events set to begin at 11 a.m., however, police are warning motorists that delays heading to the fun should be anticipated.
“Clearwater Police are urging anyone traveling to Clearwater Beach later this morning for Outback Bowl Beach Day activities to budget extra travel time,” the agency wrote in an email to media. “Delays are expected on Memorial Causeway and roads feeding in to the causeway.”
Outback Bowl Beach Day festivities take place at the Hilton Clearwater Beach, 400 Mandalay Ave., next to Pier 60. The Dec. 30 fun is expected to last until 4 p.m.

This year’s pep rally-style event will feature the Florida Gators’ and Iowa Hawkeyes’ marching bands, the teams and their cheerleaders. Activities include live music, skydivers and contests, including tug-of-war.
As folks head to the beach, the police department is also reminding motorists to not block intersections when traffic backs up. The agency recommends the Belleair Causeway as an alternative route during peak travel times.
