Cop Becomes Lost Girl’s Knight In Shining Armor
A Clearwater Police officer went above and beyond the call of duty to help a 6-year-old girl lost on the beach find her family.

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater Police officers are sworn to protect and serve. Some also dry tears and reunite lost little girls with their families.
At least, that was the scene that unfolded on Clearwater Beach earlier this week when Officer Rich Edmonds came across a terrified 6-year-old girl who had wandered away from her family. The girl was brought to Edmonds’ attention after she approached beachgoers for help.

“Edmonds came to her rescue and set out to reunite her with her family,” the police department wrote on its Facebook page. “Scared and crying, she didn’t want to get in the police car, so the two walked hand-in-hand for about a half-mile until the little girl was back with her family.”
The scene caught the attention of beachgoer Amy Amerell, who snapped a shot of the two holding hands while the search for the missing family was still under way.
