Customer Shot By Clearwater Dunkin' Donuts Employee, Say Police

Clearwater police said a 22-year-old man shot a customer who was in the store, trying to buy ice cream for his girlfriend and two children.

CLEARWATER, FL — A Clearwater Dunkin' Donuts employee has been arrested after Clearwater police said he shot a customer who was in the store, trying to buy ice cream for his girlfriend and two children.

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the shooting at Dunkin' Donuts, 2551 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. shortly after 6 p.m. Monday.

According to witnesses, Khalil Abdul Shakur Shaheed, 22, of St. Petersburg got into an argument with the customer, a 38-year-old Clearwater man, inside Dunkin' Donuts.

As the victim and his family left the store through the front door, Shaheed went out the back door and confronted the man in the parking where the argument continued. Clearwater police said Shaheed pulled a gun from his waistband and fired at the Clearwater man three times, hitting him in the legs twice.

The Clearwater man was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a trauma alert with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Shaheed was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed firearm. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Monday night.
