Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies say they've nabbed a fugitive from Miami-Dade County wanted on five counts of attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.

Andy Roman, 23, was picked up around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop at McMullen Booth Road and Crest Drive in unincorporated Clearwater, the sheriff's office reports.

Roman was allegedly involved in a shootout with Hialeah Police over the weekend, firing at officers with an AK-47 and submachine gun during a car chase, NBC Miami reports. He had been considered armed and dangerous.

A joint effort by Pinellas and Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Hialeah Police Department helped track Roman down, authorities said.

A tip led law enforcement officials to the Clearwater area, where Roman was spotted at a Burger King at State Road 580 and U.S. 19 on Wednesday and was seen getting into a blue Dodge Durango, according to a media release. The car's driver, a woman, pulled out of the parking lot, and deputies then conducted a traffic stop and arrested Roman without incident.

The driver was being interviewed by detectives Wednesday evening and was expected to be booked into the Pinellas County Jail, authorities said. Hialeah Police detectives took custody of the vehicle.
