Fire Rescue Worker Helps Mother Deliver Baby In Car Outside FL Hospital Emergency Room
A toddler looked on from the back seat as a woman gave birth in a car outside a Clearwater hospital emergency room.
CLEARWATER, FL — A mother recently gave birth outside a hospital emergency room with the help of a Clearwater Fire and Rescue employee, the agency wrote in a Facebook post.
Driver-operator Liz Favata had just completed a medical call to Mease Countryside Hospital and was outside the emergency room preparing equipment on the fire vehicle when “a car screeched into the area with the driver honking and yelling, ‘Someone help me,’” the agency wrote.
Favata ran to the car, where she found a woman in the middle of labor. She crouched down to support the baby’s head and within a few seconds, the baby was delivered. She used her uniform to clean the baby’s nose and face.

“She kept the mom calm, cool and collected, and told her that her new baby looked perfect. All the while, a toddler was watching the whole scene unfold from the back seat,” the department said.
A nurse later called Favata to let her know the baby was healthy and that the mother was doing well. The family also passed on a message that they were grateful she was there to help.
