North Greenwood Ballfield Nearly Ready for Cleats

It was an idea and it turned out there was money to pay for it. But time limits on the money's availability meant it had to happen fast.

Just about a , one ballfield is soon to open and officials will break ground on another Sept. 4 at the new field adjacent to the the recently expanded  and r.

The L-shaped fields take the space near the former parking lot for Jack Russell Stadium.

The $300,000 cost for the field is partially funded through a grant from the NFL and Clearwater for Youth. The project added lights, irrigation, dirt, grass and uprights.

The two-part project includes the full-size, lighted field capable of use for soccer or football. The second part of the project adds additional practice facilities to the site.
