Sand Available, Just Bring Your Own Bag

Looking to spend time this weekend preparing for Tropical Storm Isaac?

Bring your own bags and fill them with sand available outside the city’s Public Works Complex on Arcturas Avenue.

A pile of sand is available at the second gate on North Arcturas Avenue from Sherwood Street. The sand is on left side near gate two, said Tracy Mercer, director of Public Utilities.

Bags are available at most home improvement stores.

The self-serve sand is available while it lasts. Make sure to cover the sand after filling bags.
