Captured: Fugitive Who Slipped Police Custody

Clearwater Police were asking for help tracking down a man who fled arrest early Monday morning.

CLEARWATER, FL — The Clearwater Police Department has announced the arrest of a man who slipped custody early Monday morning.

According to the agency, officers pulled Brain Andres Spradling, 20, over in the area of Brattle Lane and Hinsdale Court around 1 a.m. Jan. 16. As officers were processing the traffic stop information, they learned Spradling had two outstanding felony arrest warrants for violation of probation on aggravated assault and firebombing charges, an email from police said.

“After being handcuffed, he feigned some type of medical distress,” the email said. “It was at that time, he fled from custody.”

Police issued a plea for area residents to keep their eyes open for Spradling Monday morning. His arrest was announced around 9:40 a.m.
