Police Arrest South Greenwood Shooting Suspect

A suspect who shot at two men in a car, giving the passenger life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon in South Greenwood, was arrested and charged with attempted murder Wednesday.

Clearwater Police, including canine and anti-crime units worked through the night, checking multiple locations to find Sylvester Keandra Brown.

Brown, 17, had an ongoing feud with Diante Strawder, according to Clearwater Police.

Strawder, 18, and Johnteves Polk drove to a residence at 1301 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave to find Brown and challenge him to a fight, police said. When Brown showed a gun, Strawder and Polk, 23, ran to their vehicle and headed east on Kingsley Street as Brown fired several shots at them, according to investigators.

Strawder was hit once by a gunshot. He and Polk drove to a friend's house. Where she took Strawder to with life-threatening injuries. He was then flown to Tampa General for surgery and is in stable condition.
