St. Petersburg College Job Fairs Connect Employers With Jobseekers

St. Petersburg College, partnered with CareerSource Pinellas, will host a series of industry-specific job fairs.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — St. Petersburg College, partnered with CareerSource Pinellas, will host a series of industry-specific job fairs this spring, offering SPC students and area residents the opportunity to connect with local employers who are seeking talent to fill open positions.

These job fairs, which are free and open to the public, are part of the College’s Career and Academic Community events, which showcase different areas of the college and the programs they offer. See other upcoming CAC events scheduled this spring here.

Jason Krupp, SPC’s Career Connections director, said prior job fairs have been successful in bringing local employment opportunities to SPC students as well as jobseekers from the community.

“Since these events are sponsored by both St. Petersburg College and CareerSource Pinellas, employers and jobseekers will benefit from the resources of both organizations,” Krupp said. “In the past, employers have had good experiences in finding qualified candidates to fill their openings, and jobseekers can visit multiple employers and discuss opportunities for current openings and other career opportunities with their organizations.”

The first job fair, which will be held on February 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Clearwater Campus Crossroads Courtyard, will target jobs in the engineering, manufacturing and building arts fields. Jobseekers can register for the event here, and employers can register here.

Next up will be for the health sciences fields on March 16 from 12-2 p.m. at SPC’s Health Education Center. This event will also offer free career development workshops. Registration for the event can be completed here, and employers can register here.

On April 6, employers and jobseekers in the business and technology fields can meet up at the EpiCenter boardrooms from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration for the event can be completed here, and employers can register here.

Anyone seeking work in these areas, which offer high wages and plenty of openings, should prepare for on-site interviews for full and part-time positions, and career service professionals will also be on hand for consultation. Krupp advises that it would be a good idea to register for the job fairs before attending.

“When you register, you can receive updates on the companies that will be participating,” he said. “Given that knowledge, you can research the companies ahead of time and develop a plan for which tables to visit. Also, be sure to dress for success, and bring several copies of your resume.”
