In addition to playing varsity football at Calvary Christian High School, Ricky is active in the high school's Best Buddies chapter.
This year, for the senior homecoming dance, Ricky invited a member of the Best Buddies, a teen with Down's syndrome, to go to the dance with him.

"Ricky invited and escorted a young lady with Down's syndrome whose dream it was to attend her homecoming," Smith said. "He does what’s right always, even when no one is looking. He is outgoing, kind, funny and compassionate."
Keep up the great work, Ricky Brown!
