The 10-day Sugar Sand Festival is making a return to Clearwater's Pier 60.

CLEARWATER, FL — The area around Clearwater’s Pier 60 will once again be transformed into a sand sculpture paradise early next year. The city has announced the popular Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival is returning for its fifth year.
The 2017 festival is set to take place April 14-23. The theme is Sugar Sand FantaSEA, “A Magical Adventure Above and Below the Sea," according to the city.
The festival will feature 11 sugar sand sculptors, who will create works of art to display within a 21,000-square-foot exhibition tent. More than 1,000 tons of Clearwater sand will be used to create the pieces, the city said in an email to media.
