Clearwater Police are investigating a call about a gun and shots fired at Belleair Elementary School but say there is no evidence of a shooting at this time.

The school was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon as a precaution, and buses have been delayed as the school is being checked, public safety spokesperson Elizabeth Watts said.

A 911 call from a cell phone reported the incident, but no one at the school heard any shots, Watts said.

"It should be noted that 911 received only one phone call from a cell phone that does not take incoming phone calls," Watts said in a media release.
