Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Traveling at High Speeds Through Clearwater, Police Say

A motorcyclist crashed after traveling, according to police, up to 122 miles per hour through Clearwater.

A motorcycle traveled from the Courtney Campbell Causeway to Clearwater Beach at a high rate of speed late Monday afternoon.

Monday around 4:30 pm, a Clearwater Police officer measured a motorcycle traveling about 86 miles per hour coming off of the Courtney Campbell Causeway near the Bayside Bridge. The motorcycle was heading west on State Road 60, according to police.

Further down State Road 60, a second officer clocked the same motorcycle near US 19 traveling about 122 miles per hour. The officer tried a traffic stop but the motorcycle fled, police said.

According to police, the motorcycle was seen on Clearwater Beach just a short time later. The motorcycle was still traveling at "excessive" speeds. The police looked for the motorcycle  and found the driver ejected from the motorcycle after he hit a vehicle in the 600 block of Bayway, according to police.
