When it comes to favorite things in life, Edgar Swett sure has a few. Affectionately known as the “Mayor of Five Points” for decades, the centenarian – who recently celebrated his 102nd birthday – had visited the same sandwich shop nearly every day for years, ordering sliced tomatoes and ketchup with his breakfast and lunch. Swett, who now resides at Riverside Post Acute, is also an ardent Florida Gators football fan, earning him another nickname: “Gator Man.”

“Edgar loves life!” said Riverside’s Pam Montemurno, regional director of market development. “He is such fun to be around and has always enjoyed talking with people of all ages. We were delighted to host a celebration for his milestone birthday.”

Swett was born on Nov. 29, 1922, in Southern Georgia. Married in his early twenties, Swett and his beloved wife had one son. Swett’s work took him to New York before he relocated to the Five Points neighborhood of Jacksonville, living at Riverside Presbyterian Towers. The centenarian also cheers on the Jacksonville Jaguars, in addition to the Gators.
