Jacksonville Students Provide Meals and Wellness Kits to the Homeless
Beaches Habitat for Humanity and State Farm agents are there to assist
Beaches Habitat’s Prep Club and State Farm Insurance agents Jayson Judy, Ramey El-Abu, Carla Fenzel Marchese, Carly Jackson and Michael Tauzel assisted the homeless at Mission House in Jacksonville Beach this past Sunday, November 19.
High School students Ireland Johnson, Jaylen Williams, Khoi Ho, and Jazzmin Crowder are leaders of the new club, which began in April. Doug Brown, the club’s sponsor, coordinated with the students to develop community service projects. In collaboration with State Farm Insurance agents, the Prep Club provided a Thanksgiving style dinner and wellness kits to Mission House clients. See attached photos.
The Mission House Project was funded through a State Farm student action grant in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity International. Mission House in Jacksonville Beach assists in providing the homeless with food, clothing, medical attention, and other forms of support. Prep Club Club is a new addition to the Prep Club which has been a part of Beaches Habitat since 2001. Herb and Miyuki Scheidel established the College Prep Club to provide homeowners and their children with an additional tool for success: a college education.
In recent months, the Prep Club Club was created for middle and high school students to help foster a sense of community. Prep Club Coordinator Doug Brown is very proud of the students and says, “Beaches Prep Club Club is committed to improving our beaches through community service and empowered leaders.”
