Exchange at Orange Park apartments sold for $52 million (jaxdailyrecord.com) — A large West Jacksonville apartment community, Exchange at Orange Park on Collins Road, just sold for $52 million, giving residents a glimpse at rising local property values and rents. Built in 2023, the 312-unit complex offers one- to three-bedroom apartments, extensive amenities, and monthly rents ranging from about $1,400 to more than $3,600.
   

2. Jacksonville police investigating shooting in Pinecrest neighborhood off Normandy Boulevard (firstcoastnews.com) — Jacksonville’s Pinecrest neighborhood off Normandy Boulevard is partially closed as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigates a shooting that left one person with life-threatening injuries. Guardian Drive is blocked, causing major backups on Normandy Boulevard, and drivers are urged to avoid the area or park at a nearby grocery store until police clear the scene.
   

3. Murray Hill homeless encampment worries neighbors (actionnewsjax.com) — Neighbors in Murray Hill say a growing homeless encampment in John D. Liverman Park is bringing safety fears, trash, and public indecency right up to their backyards. Jacksonville officials say their PATH outreach team is working citywide and urge residents to report encampments so teams can connect people to shelter resources. Families nearby now closely supervise children and want to feel safe at home again.
   

4. Man fatally shot in officer-involved shooting in Jacksonville's Oceanway neighborhood (firstcoastnews.com) — A man was shot and killed by a Jacksonville officer during a traffic stop Monday evening in Oceanway, after police say he fought with an officer and pulled a handgun. The stop happened on Ponce Boulevard while officers were serving an arrest warrant on another man, William Lowe. JSO says this is the agency’s 17th officer-involved shooting this year.
   

5. Player's union reaches tentative deal with ECHL after strike postpones Jacksonville Icemen game (news4jax.com) — Jacksonville Icemen fans can cautiously look ahead to hockey again after a tentative labor deal ended the strike that postponed Friday’s home game. The ECHL and players’ union still must ratify the agreement, but players are preparing to return as the union pushes for safer travel, better equipment, and improved working conditions. The Icemen’s next home game is set for Saturday, Jan. 3.
