• Lakeland Could Nix Oak Street Project — And Keep $205,000 (lkldnow.com) — Lakeland’s City Commission is set to decide today whether to terminate a long-delayed downtown redevelopment deal for the Oak Street parking lot and keep $205,000 in deposits and fees. The Tampa-based developer hasn’t met deadlines and now says it can’t replace all public parking as promised, so commissioners may scrap the agreement and seek new proposals for the key downtown site.
   

• Adelaida Feliciano (villages-news.com) — Family and friends in Lakeland are mourning Adelaida Feliciano, 67, whose sons Jorge Caraballo and Rafael Cardec live here. She passed away in Sumterville on December 9 and is remembered as a loving, straightforward Christian who enjoyed crafts, puzzles, and sci‑fi. A service is planned at Purcell Chapel on January 9, 2026.

Playing back in his home state against Florida State, he poured in a career‑high 24 points and helped extend the Minutemen’s winning streak.
