Authorities: Man Stole Appliances, Sold Them for Scrap

Jason Eric Decoeur of Land O' Lakes was arrested and charged with dealing in stolen property.

A 29-year-old Land O’ Lakes man is accused of stealing a stove and clothes dryer from a home, then selling them as scrap metal.

Jason Eric Decoeur of Delprado Court was arrested April 8 and charged with dealing in stolen property. According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Decoeur was seen driving away from a Causeway Boulevard residence with the appliances strapped to his vehicle.

Authorities caught up with Decoeur, who admitted taking the items, driving them to a local scrap yard and then using his identification to receive money for the material, according to the sheriff’s office.

Decoeur was taken to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center without incident and also charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and violating his probation. The burglary and stolen property charges each carry a $10,000 bond.
