Released Inmate Accused of Breaking into Deputy's Car

He was discovered in the Land O' Lakes jail parking lot early Saturday morning, not long after his release.

LAND O' LAKES (OUTSIDE TAMPA), FL -- A local man was released from jail Friday, but it wasn't long before he found himself back behind bars.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Richard Anthony Owens, 18, was caught trying to get into vehicles parked in the Land O' Lakes jail parking lot at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

A deputy, who had processed Owens for release Friday evening, saw him looking in windows and trying to open doors, an incident report stated.

According to the report, another recently released man was outside the jail waiting for a ride when Owens approached him and asked if he "had any blues  (Roxycodone) on him." The man said no, then observed Owens try to open the door of a silver car, then that of a yellow Pontiac GTO.

It was then that a deputy walked into the lot and saw Owens trying to get into the GTO, which belonged to another detention deputy, according to the report.
