Suspected Spice Lab Explodes at Lutz Home

Investigators are on scene at 4349 Breezy Oak Court.

Pasco Sheriff's Vice and Narcotics detectives are on scene at a suspected synthetic marijuana lab explosion in Lutz.

The sheriff's office received a call at 6:50 p.m. that an explosion occurred in a garage at 24349 Breezy Oak Court.

The call originally came in as a water heater explosion, according to a media release.

Once on scene, further investigation revealed the homemade spice operation, the release stated.

According to the release, one man was burned in the fire and was transported to a local hospital with burns to his back and arm.

No arrests have been made and the sheriff's office is not releasing the name of the injured man at this time, the release stated.

The sheriff's office will have to send the chemicals in the spice to a lab to determine if any of the ingredients in the product are illegal, the release stated.Β
