Boris Begins His American Dream With Largo Coffee Shop

An online search helped a local man find a business for his family.

As a child growing up in Bosnia, Germany, and finally Seminole, fresh brewed Turkish coffee was the common ground for Boris Cehic.

The 25-year-old loves coffee and turned his passion for pastry into a coffee shop business with his mom at the Largo Mall.

Cehic wanted to build a business for himself and his mother, so he began searching the Internet for coffee shops in the Largo area. A little more than a year ago Cehic found for sale on Craigslist.

The business, now named Corner Cafe, was a dream for Cehic and a help to his mom, he said.

"I always wanted a bakery, a pastry shop. This is almost like a cafe with nice outdoor seating," Cehic said. "My mom was a deli clerk at a grocery store; I looked for a way out for my mom."

Like many small business owners,Β Cehic still works a 9 to 5 job as the coffee shop business β€” which serves a variety of coffee drinks, ice cream and fresh baked desserts β€” grows. Β The regular customers keep Cehic going as he works 80- to 90-hour weeks, he said.

"I get to meet lots of interesting people here every day. It's a stress free environment," Cehic said.
