LARGO, FL — The drivers of a Largo Fire Rescue truck, a Sunstar Paramedics ambulance and a Toyota Corolla escaped injury Wednesday after the Toyota hydroplaned on the wet road during a rainstorm Wednesday afternoon and struck first the fire truck and then the ambulance.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 3:35 p.m., the 35-year-old driver of the Toyota from West Palm Beach was heading north on Interstate 275 south of 54th Avenue North when the Toyota hydroplaned and collided with the fire truck, driven by a 30-year-old firefighter from Largo who was also heading north on I-275.

The Toyota then ricocheted to the shoulder of the highway where a Sunstar ambulance driven by a 23-year-old St. Petersburg man was stopped along the northbound outside shoulder of I-275. The Toyota slammed into the rear of the ambulance.
