Fire On 3rd Floor Of Largo Hospital Doused By Sprinkler System

Firefighters said the hospital's fire sprinklers activated and put out the fire that broke out on the hospital's third floor.

Correction: This story has been updated to remove an error by Largo Fire Rescue, which mistakenly said the hospital was evacuated.

LARGO, FL — A fire at HCA Florida Largo Hospital Sunday night prompted the hospital to move patients to another wing away from the fire.

On Sunday at 8:07 p.m., Largo Fire Rescue units responded to a fire alarm at HCA Florida Largo Hospital at 201 14th St. SW and found a fire on the third floor that had activated the sprinkler system, which appeared to put out the fire that was contained to a single room.

Tiffany Briggs, director of communications at HCA Florida Largo Hospital, said no patients or staff were evacuated as originally reported by Largo Fire Rescue. Instead, patients were relocated to another wing.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
