Leaders Look for Charter Review Committee Applicants

Wanted: Nine residents to meet monthly to find and suggest possible changes to city rules and regulations. 

City leaders unanimously approved creating a Charter Review Committee at their meeting Tuesday, March 5.

The group would be comprised of seven members and two alternates selected after a city commission discussion April 2.

Commissioners will use a point system ranking potential members. The top seven will be picked. The next two would be alternates. Applicants should be registered voters and submit applications by 5 p.m. March 28.

The group would meet monthly until January 2014. The meetings are tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. the last Tuesday each month.

Possible changes the group comes up with would be added to the election ballot to be voted on by Largo residents in November 2014.

Already there are four applications filed, said Alan Zimmet, city attorney.
