• FTC finds spike in reported losses from fraud among seniors, reaching $2.4 billion in 2024: Report (fox13news.com) — Largo Police are warning local seniors about a sharp rise in government impersonation scams that have cost Pinellas County residents about $12 million in just nine months. Officers describe tactics involving cryptocurrency, gold bars, and urgent financial demands, and urge residents to slow down, verify any requests, and report suspected fraud to authorities and the FTC.
   

• Derby Lane Hosts New Weekend Market After Wagon Wheel Closure (myq105.com) — Largo readers may remember the Pinellas Farmers and Flea Market on Icot Boulevard, which closed after the county bought the land for a future government campus and used it for hurricane debris. Its organizer has since moved about 150 vendors to a new weekend Farmers and Flea Bazaar at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, drawing hundreds of shoppers with low-cost produce, food, antiques, and more.

What your neighbors are talking about on social media

  • This morning, I have three monarch butterflies that have emerged from their chrysalis!
    I believe all three are female! Two of them needed a little bit of help getting the chrysalis off and one of them came out all by herself! They are… (Nextdoor Ranchero Village)
  • This is a video of the monarch butterfly rolling her tongue (it is in two long semi circle pieces) up and down into her mouth while “patting it” with the fuzzy fan like parts on each side of the “mouth”.
    She pats it and rolls it in & out to “glue” it together to create a straw like tongue that can suck up nectar out of the flowers!!! (Nextdoor Ranchero Village)
