LARGO, FL — A plastic surgeon in the Tampa area was arrested Saturday and charged with the murder of a local attorney, according to police.

Tomasz Roman Kosowski faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with missing person Steven Cozzi, according to Largo police.

Cozzi was reported missing Tuesday, police said. He was thought to have left his office in the 1500 block of South Belcher Road in Largo, but his wallet, keys, cellphone and vehicle remained at the office, and he was not seen exiting the building, according to police.

An investigation revealed a strong chemical smell in the men’s bathroom at the office and small drops of blood, police said, adding a forensics probe uncovered much more blood in the bathroom. A suspicious person and vehicle were also seen in the building at the same time as Cozzi, according to police.

The investigation resulted in a search warrant for Kosowski’s home in Tarpon Springs and, eventually, a vehicle stop Saturday, when he was arrested, authorities said. Cozzi’s body has not been found and the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
