Sex Offender Gets 59 Months in Prison

A St. Petersburg man charged with child molestation pleaded guilty to the charge, according to Largo Police.

A St. Petersburg man accused of inappropriately touching a child has pled guilty to molestation charges and was sentenced Friday to 59 months in prison, the Largo Police Department reported.

James David Pierce, 39, allegedly molested the girl while in her home on Aug. 6, 2011. Largo Police charged him with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 16 years of age.

On Friday, Pierce pleaded guilty to the charge, was designated as a sex offender and sentenced to 59 months behind bars, according to a post on the Largo Police Facebook page.

According to the arrest affidavit, Pierce touched the child while he was sitting next to her on the couch.

The girl told Pierce to stop and left to her room.

Pierce followed the girl to her room and continued to molest her, the report stated.Β The child ran out of the bedroom and told her mother who called police.

After Pierce was arrested and read his Miranda rights he admitted to touching the child inappropriately.
