2 More Pedestrians Struck Near Hit-And-Run Crime Scene

Police were steps away trying to get information in the fatal hit-and-run death of another pedestrian when a vehicle struck 2 women.

MIAMI, FL — Two pedestrians were struck by a car on Wednesday afternoon as Miami-Dade homicide detectives were steps away handing out fliers about a fatal hit-and-run accident involving another pedestrian. The two women were taken to a local hospital. The driver of the latest incident remained on the scene.

"They were both conscious and breathing when we got to them," Detective Argemis Colome of the Miami-Dade Police Department told Patch. The women were struck around 2:36 p.m.

Detective Lee Cowart, who was nearby when the pedestrians were struck, described the incident as "surreal." He said that one of the victims was in critical condition while the other was stable.

Police were in the area trying to get information that would help them find a hit-and-run driver in a white Toyota Rav4 who struck and killed a pedestrian on Sunday night.

Fifty-one-year-old Auguste Friznel was killed around 8:30 p.m. as he attempted to cross the street at NW 7 Avenue and NW 103 Street.

"Obviously they attended to them right away," Colome said of Wednesday's incident. "We couldn't be any closer."
