Kidnapping Suspect Found Sitting In Lounge Chair
Miami police said they found Javier Cardenas sitting in a lounge chair following a manhunt that stretched into Broward County.

MIRAMAR, FL — Miami police said they found a 30-year-old kidnapping suspect sitting in a lounge chair on Wednesday following a morning-long manhunt that wound its way into Broward County. The search brought officers to Miramar where Miami police took Javier Cardenas into custody without incident. He was later charged with kidnapping and related offenses.
Officer Kenia Fallat of the Miami Police Department told reporters that police found Cardenas outside the Haven Lakes Estates Community Center in Miramar. He was sought in connection with the alleged abduction of his girlfriend from an Allapattah neighborhood. Miramar police assisted in the manhunt.
"We found the man sitting in a lounge chair just outside the community center," Fallat explained. "Fortunate enough, nobody else was hurt."

Police said that the alleged abduction occurred around 5 a.m. in the 1700 block of NW 31 Street. Police did not release the name of the victim. Her mother was also listed as a victim.
"Officers encountered a male driving a white newer model Chrysler that matched both the description and tag that was given from the 9-1-1 caller," according to Miami police. "Subsequently, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle who fit the description fled, causing a pursuit into the city of Miramar located in Broward County. "

Police said the victim was found safe along with her car.
"A further investigation revealed a prior address located inside the search area. Police responded to the location inside Haven Lakes Estates Community Center," according to police.
Court documents revealed that there have been other alleged incidents of domestic violence involving Cardenas.
