Accused Miami Beach Hit-And-Run Driver Cried During Arrest: Cops
An accused hit-and-run driver was crying when Miami Beach police arrested him not long after he allegedly mowed down four pedestrians.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A 27-year-old North Bay Village man was crying and screaming with a strong odor of alcohol on his breath when Miami Beach police officers took him into custody after he allegedly mowed down four pedestrians Saturday night and fled the crash scene, according to court documents.
Jay Fletcher Alli-Balukoff was charged with two counts of driving under the influence with bodily injury, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and related offenses when he was stopped at 1100 Normandy Drive little more than an hour after the crash.
Two of the pedestrians were taken to Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries. Court documents said one of those two victims was a woman who lost several teeth and required a plastic surgeon to treat a number of cuts to her face.

The crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. along busy Collins Avenue at 63 Street. Alli-Balukoff was driving a black BMW X5 with a personalized Tampa Bay Bucaneers license tag.
"The traffic light cycled from green to red for northbound traffic allowing pedestrians to cross Collins Avenue," court documents explained. "Northbound traffic came to a [stop] allowing the pedestrians to cross Collins Avenue."

Court documents also said Alli-Balukoff drove toward the intersection at a high rate of speed. He allegedly drove on the east sidewalk at one point to get around traffic.
The pedestrians were in the crosswalk when they were struck, according to court documents.
A passenger in the black BMW was not charged.
